About me

A few sections about who I am, why I am, and what keeps me driven to want to learn more.

Who I am

I am someone who is naturally curious about many different aspects of life.

I believe there is no better way to learn and grow than to remain observant to what is around you and ask the simple but important question, "Why?".

For me, asking, "Why?", has led me to dive much deeper into topics, led me to find answers to problems I didn't realize existed, and led me to explore new ideas I wouldn't have considered previously.

My background

I started my career as a Tier 1 Help Desk agent where I learned about the many aspects of IT operations. This built the foundation that would shape who I am as an IT professional today.

From there, I was able to transition into several other roles. This allowed me to gain experience across different areas such as system administration, identity and access management, networking, and infrastructure support.

While originally going to school for meteorology then transitioning into IT, I have found there are many overlaps between the two fields. How I tackle problems is similar in that I have to adapt to changing conditions, identify patterns in systems, and sometimes working without seeing the whole picture.

What I enjoy

I enjoy trying to build new things. Much of my learning comes from the challenge and struggle that occurs when I start building, breaking, and fixing new systems. Setting up my home lab, researching the effects of weather and flight delays, this website, have all forced me to expand the way I think about problems and how I should implement solutions.

Outside of work, I have many other interests I enjoy. I am a big Manchester United fan. I also enjoy being outdoors, trying new recipes, a little bit of storm chasing, and spending time with the people I care about.

What I’m learning

As of 8/9/2026, I'm building out my home lab to allow me to simulate an enterprise production environment. This includes setting up TrueNAS, VMware ESXi, and OPNsense. Additionally, I am furthering my understanding within Linux to better equip me to support system infrastructure.

A few upcoming plans include cable management, Azure based cloud infrastructure, and automating the setup so I can have a fall back incase I need to wipe and restart.
